Vegeleanor- Q&A

Vegeleanor- Q&A

Hello and welcome back to my final Vegeleanor blog post. I hope that you are all staying safe and happy and healthy. I am currently writing this post after having a minor breakdown over one of my uni assignments. Maybe I'll drop out of uni and take up blogging full time? Haha only joking....unless? Anyway, in this final post I will be talking about how easy it is to be a full time student, business woman, and CEO of a large supermarket, while living a plant based lifestyle. This will be done through answering some questions that Vegeleanor is frequently asked.  Why be vegan? There are many benefits that come with following a vegan lifestyle. For example, if you are looking to lose a bit of lockdown beef (even though you don't need to and I think you look gorgeous) cutting out meat and dairy can help shift the excess weight. Also being vegan is so good for the environment. We all love a socially responsible eco friendly warrior. Think of the animals as well! I firmly believe tha...

Vegeleanor- Deals Are Her Art-form

Hello everyone and welcome back to Vegeleanor. I hope you have all had a lovely week. My week has consisted of working 900 hours, watching flavor of love, and eating meal deals. I have been searching far and wide (from the Gallowgate to Argyle Street) to find my favourite and most value for money vegan meal deal. I have only rated four because I am currently struggling financially after buying lots of silly things that I have seen on Tiktok. Also, I know some of you have been absolutely outraged (actually just Laura) that I didn't come to a solid conclusion in my last blog post. After thinking long and hard, I have decided that Greggs was my favourite. Anyway lets move on.  Morrisons  As we all know, I am HBIC at Morrisons, and I usually have amazing things to say about everything they have to offer me. However, this week I am furious. I just found the choices to be so poor and limited. Initially I had high hopes as I had it on good authority that Morrisons sold a pretend chic...

Vegeleanor- I Love Sausage Rolls

Welcome back to Vegeleanor! Hope you have all had a lovely week! Mine has been filled with avoiding uni work at all costs, running my Morrisons empire, and eating vegan sausage rolls. I have only rated 4 because I'm not made of money and I had other food to use up in the fridge- we love a sustainable queen! For this experiment, I will be judging the sausage rolls in 5 different areas- filling, pastry, colour, overall taste, and price. Let's get started! Caffé Nero   I am incredibly lucky because my bf works at Caffé Nero and I get loads of things brought home to me for free (unless this is his boss reading this, in that case for legal reasons this is a joke). I put in a request for a vegan sausage roll to help me with my experiment. Caffé Nero's sausage roll isn't even a pretend sausage- it's made of roasted butternut squash, sweet potato, and courgette. Perfect for autumn. I can imagine myself eating this on a bench in Stars Hollow.  Filling - I liked the filling,...

Vegeleanor- tour de supermarket

Hello and welcome back to my blog. Going out to eat is so last week- this week Vegeleanor is going to be staying home, saving lives, and cooking for herself (even if her 26 year old oven is holding her back from reaching her Bree Van de Kamp potential)! Throughout this blog post I am going to be discussing and rating the different free from, vegan friendly products that my local supermarkets have to offer- how exciting!  Morrisons  For those of you who don't already know, I am the CEO of Morrisons. You don't need to google it, just trust me. Such a title means that I receive a 15% discount in store, so this is where my experiment began.  Let's start with the hits. Firstly- the milk alternatives! I remember a couple of years ago you could only buy almond or coconut milk, but nowadays there is so much to chose from. I don't know what hemp milk is and I am not the biggest fan of cashew, so I opted for Morrisons' own brand oat milk. I must admit, it is a bit too sweet f...

Vegeleanor- singlehandedly restoring the economy

Hello and welcome to an exciting instalment of my vegan adventure. Last week, after being paid from my part time supermarket job, I was feeling RICH and decided that I should reward myself by visiting some of my favourite places in Glasgow. I was expecting to be challenged as normally I am not as restricted on what I can and can't order, although as previously mentioned I have followed a strict vegetarian diet for around ten years (apart from beef gravy at Christmas as a treat). My first stop was Mikaku and I was so excited. Mikaku has been one of my faves since it took over from Ramen Dayo, and everything about it is just stunning from the decor to the food. Me and friend both ordered the vegetable gyoza and the vegan tantanmen, and I could not recommend either highly enough. The highlight of the trip was the two cocktails we ordered- 'the Tokyo tea party' and 'the botanist tea party.' Honestly, if you don't know get to know. Compliments to the chef.  My next s...

Vegeleanor- who is she?

Hey MTV, welcome to my blog!  My name is Eleanor, I'm 21, and I am a third year International Business student at Strathclyde. This year for our marketing class we have been tasked with creating a blog about anything we want and I have decided to try and become a vegan. After being vegetarian for almost a decade I feel like this is the next step as the future is most definitely plant based. I also have an extensive list of restaurants and cafés in Glasgow that I want to try out so this project is really killing two birds with one stone. Throughout my vegan experiment I will be reviewing different places to eat in the city, as well as the various free-from products that are now available to buy in most supermarkets.  I'll speak to you soon, but for now I leave you with this photo of me and my oat milk coffee.  Love from Eleanor x
